Alice Gilchrist Reagan/Regan Death Notice

See Charles Reagan/Regan's death record for lots more errors. Alice died first, and there were people around who knew more about her. "T. R. Regan," the informant, was probably Thomas Leroy ("Roy") Regan, the oldest son, who was also the informant for his father when he died a few years later. The name of Alice's mother is right here, though I'm not sure if she spelled it that way (it was spelled in various ways by various members of the family). Charles' father's name is misspelled here. It should be Gilchrist.

We don't know what she died of (though her granddaughter, Helen, thinks it may have been diabetes -- and Alice's mother died of diabetes), but she was very much prepared when the time came. She must have been a very particular and conscientious, helpful person who took care of every little detail of everything she did. She chose the people who would carry her casket, and she laid out the clothes she was to be buried in. No doubt she did a lot more than that to have everything ready, to not leave things undone to make it any worse for her husband and family when she was gone. She was only 65 years old when she died and she was leaving a husband behind who had physical problems himself and who would probably miss her terribly; usually it's the woman who's left behind. She had to realize her family and especially her husband would be very upset and facing things that they had never faced before while under a lot of stress, and so she did her best to make sure things would go smoothly for them before she died. Her husband lived on for another five years, and it was probably very helpful to him.
