| Do not believe what it says on death records, or any other records, until the information has been verified. Imagine how upset the people who are left behind feel and how they may not answer questions reliably. They may not even really know what a close relative's middle name is or what their grandparents' names were (in this case, for instance -- Charles Regan's father's name was not Henry and his last name was spelled "Reagan," not "Regan," and his mother's maiden name was Helland, not Holland, and her first name was Christina/Christiana/Christena (it was recorded with all three spellings), and her middle name was not Mary). In this case the informant was Thomas Regan, probably Thomas Leroy Reagan/Regan, called "Roy." He was Charles Regan's oldest son. Roy's mother's mother's name was Mary and that may have helped cause the confusion. |
