Alice Gilchrist Reagan's Autograph Book

This was written by a member of her family. It could have been her father (we have a note that says he was also known as "John," which may have been his real first name), or her brother John Baptist Gilchrist who was born in 1870, about two years after Alice was born (he died in 1892). It says:

May your joys be as deep as the ocean
your sorrows as light as its foam
